It will be the first international company to produce gas in Russia. </P]<P]In the next two and half years, the Sino-Russia firm intends to invest US$300 million in the two gas fields, Yuzhno-Berezovsky and Cheredeisky, which have a total of 60 billion cubic meters in reserves. The natural gas is expected to be transferred to China, Japan, South Korea and Singapore. </P]<P]Vice president of OAO Gazprom, a large Russian gas firm, said that Russia and China have not yet reached any agreement on a price for gas supply.</P]<P]According to a memorandum of understanding signed between the two countries, Russia will complete the construction of two gas pipelines to China in 2011.</P]

Dec. 12, 2008 (China Knowledge) - COSCO Pacific Ltd<1199>, operator of the shipping conglomerate COSCO Group's terminal portfolio, announced on Friday it will further inject RMB 75.08 million into the second phase of the Suez Canal Container Terminal, mainly fueled by higher costs of construction materials, sources reported.</p]
According to the report, the investment would total US$185 million from US$137 million upon the completion of the injection. <br /] <br /] The capital injection would be the Chinese shipping operator's second additional investment in the project, of which it owns 20%, after raising it from US$68.75 million in April.</p]
COSCO Pacific is still exploring overseas investment opportunities in a bid to turn itself a global player despite recent downturn in the global shipping market.</p]
The company announced late last month that it has clinched a deal to win a 35-year franchise operating right of the Piers 2 and 3 terminals at the port of Piraeus in Greece, China Knowledge reported earlier.</p]

The energy saving and environmental protection industry is expected to realize an output of 2.8 trillion yuan ($410.2 billion) by 2012, said Xie Zhenhua, deputy director of National Development and Reform Commission, Sunday.</p]
The central government invested 58.1 billion yuan ($8.5 billion) in the energy saving and environmentally-friendly projects in 2009, and will increase its spending as well as encouraging qualified energy saving and environmental protection companies to get financing by issuing bonds or going public, said Xie.</p]
The country's environmental protection industry is experiencing an annual increase of 15 percent, said Li Ganjie, vice minister of Environmental Protection.</p]

Dec. 15, 2008 (China Knowledge) - China will issue 3G mobile wireless licenses by the end of 2008 or early next year, said Li Yizhong, China's Minister of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT), said at a press conference on Friday.</p]
Networks using China's homegrown TD-SCDMA platform will be run by China Mobile Ltd<941><CHL>, while networks with WCDMA and CDMA 2000 platform will be operated by China Unicom<600050><762><CHU> and China Telecom<728><CHA> respectively, according to the minister.</p]
"The three companies are all well-funded. If 3G licenses are issued, we expect investment in this field will be at least RMB 200 billion next year," Li said, adding that the investment will help boost China's economic growth amid the global financial crisis.</p]
